Academic Advising
Once on campus, students are supported by a strong network of counselors and academic advisors. The Incentive Awards Program is students' link to an array of services. They are encouraged to speak to staff about personal matters, academic problems, letters of recommendations or anything else they might need. The staff may not have all the answers to students' questions or concerns, but they can direct them to the appropriate people who can provide help.

A network of academic advisors, representing all of the colleges and schools, work closely with Incentive Award Scholars. Students are not alone. They are expected to meet with Incentive Awards staff, and their advisor, to review programs and schedules on a regular basis. This process is designed to assist students with the development of appropriate class schedules by taking into consideration university, college and major requirements, as well as each student's academic preparation for desired course work.

Incentive Award Scholars are expected to maintain good academic standing at the university and to meet the satisfactory academic progress guidelines as defined by the Office of Student Financial Aid and the university's Retention Policy. Based on the selection criteria, the Incentive Awards Program has every expectation that scholars will perform well. The Incentive Awards staff wants to see every student succeed and is strongly committed to helping students academically.

Financial Advising
Although this program offers full financial support, many students should still come prepared to make some kind of financial contribution toward their education. Often times, students will need additional money for books, school supplies, dorm life, campus activities, etc. Thus, the Office of Student Financial Aid provides financial advising to all Incentive Award Scholars. With the assistance of a designated financial aid counselor who is assigned to work with Incentive Award Scholars, students are able to learn more about other resources and processes that will assist them financially.
