The Incentive Awards Program embraces the spirit of reciprocity. Scholars embrace this spirit not only by working toward academic success, but also by maintaining strong ties to their home and school communities.
High School Visits
Scholars return each fall to their high schools to serve as ambassadors of the program and role models for younger students. They also regularly engage their peers in discussions, sharing with them their own Maryland experiences and the importance of academic preparation for college. The intent is for their success—attained through hard work—to inspire others to persist toward high school graduation, pursue higher education and achieve in the face of significant challenges.
Each student is expected to participate in community service projects each year within the Baltimore-Washington corridor. Not only is this an opportunity to be actively involved in society, it empowers students to assume leadership roles and develops their ability to identify and address the needs of their community.
